Effective Strategies for Social Impact

The Right Time to

Do Right:

Effective Crime Prevention and

Juvenile Justice Strategies

Although America is the global leader in incarceration, incarceration rates pale in comparison to arrest rates, particularly in poor communities of color. As many as 1 in 3 Americans have acquired some form of criminal record in their lifetime.

Consequently, more Americans have an arrest record then have earned a bachelor’s degree in the U.S. Overwhelmingly, this has broad implications for our nation’s ability to compete effectively in a 21st-century economy.

The inability to obtain meaningful work, particularly for black males, due to arrests and subsequent chronic justice involvement depresses economic growth and severely threatens core family structures, which research has indicated are critical to reducing violent crime in America. However, some of the most effective strategies for reducing justice involvement and violent crime rates in the U.S. are deeply rooted in community-based crime prevention efforts aimed at reconnecting economically disenfranchised communities and their residents.

This book, The Right Time to Do Right: Effective Crime Prevention and Juvenile Justice Strategies, will uncover how high rates of arrests, not incarceration, in our communities can lead to higher rates of labor market disenfranchisement and an increase in violent crime rates. The Right Time to Do Right will also explore five (5) proactive, targeted, and effective community-based crime prevention solutions to lower violent crime, decrease public safety expenditures, and spur local economic growth in U.S. cities.

In this book, Stand In Solidarity, the author explores the root cause of economic inequality and develops a practical framework for private sector leaders to identify policies and practices that drive racial disparities. Stand In Solidarity guides business leaders to intentionally dismantle racism by strategically investing resources, leadership, and innovation capital to close racial disparities in the labor market.

This book serves as a foundational essay to uncover the ineffectiveness of current corporate DEI initiatives and their inability to address racial disparities in the workplace while also understanding how to pivot and effectively lead a new economic and labor market movement that improves business competitiveness, expands economic growth, and achieve Dr. King's dream of economic justice and equality.

Stand In Solidarity is a must-read for business leaders seeking to make a meaningful social impact in response to the social unrest and global protest resulting from George Floyd's death and many others. The world's ensuing call to action for business leaders to implement solutions that address economic injustice and equality was heard loud and clear, and Stand In Solidarity is the appropriate and timely response.
